FITC began as a Flash festival back in 2002 and they have kept Flash at the core of most of the events; but they have also expanded and have continued to add more diverse topics over the years, ever expanding the scope and width of the events. On July 11th and 12th the Atlanta Motion Graphics Festival showcases explosive artists and motion picture creators. Artists being showcased include: Shepard Fairey, Nine Inch Nails, David Byrne, Chuck D of Public Enemy, KRS-One, Addictive TV, Digital Kitchen, The Mill, Passion Pictures, Animal Logic, Post Panic, Dvein, David Lobser and more.

The ATL-MGFest will be hosting workshops and lectures about the shift in motion-picture audiences and explores the new technologies that motion designers will need on the video internet frontier. Motion design, sound design and interactivity, are all featured during July 11th and 12th. Evening screenings and live performances will be hosted at Atlanta’s Internationally-renowned portfolio school, Creative Circus.

This festival in the fast moving field of design technology has opened it’s Art & Entertainment events for only $7. Rather than charging the typical $500-$1500 conference fee, the Motion Graphics Festival encourages participants to stop complaining about the economy, and spend their money on something that will upgrade their tools, technique and aesthetics. Adobe® MAX 2009 will be hosted in southern California at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Nokia theater location. MAX is a conference unlike any other — an opportunity to connect with thousands of designers, developers, partners, executives, and Adobe staff for education, inspiration, and community.

You can also take part in the pre-planning of the MAX by proposing a session or lab for MAX 2009. The Adobe® MAX team will be reviewing session and lab proposals ongoing during the Call for Sessions and Labs. Call for Sessions and Labs will end April 15, 2009.

Well, I did not make the Adobe MAX Conference this year, but I am definitely there in spirit. It looks like a good time to me!

Adobe has opened the registration and blog site for the 2008 MAX Conference - North America. This event is scheduled to be held in San Francisco, CA on November 16-19th. Adobe Systems has announced the dates and locations for the 2008 MAX worldwide conferences. Adobe MAX 2008/2009 Conferences will be held in San Francisco, California, Milan, Italy and Tokyo, Japan. MAX 2008 North America will be held on November 16 - 19, 2008.

The session speakers and topics for the MAX conference 2007 have now been publshed to the Adobe MAX website. The subject matter looks somewhat similar to last years conference with quite a few of the same speakers. Looks like it will be a pretty good show, but I would imagine that it will be a difficult follow up to last year’s show in Las Vegas.
